Marin on his return to the trucks
Timothy van Vuure
After time away from the Truck Series, Sebastian Marin made his return to the grid at Texas Motor Speedway, where he put it on pole position and finished in P13. In an exclusive interview, he shares his thoughts on being back, his performance, and what is ahead for the rest of the season.
How does it feel to be back behind the wheel of a truck after your time away?
"It feels great to be behind the truck, still is my favorite of the three main series to race."
Was there anything that surprised you about being back in the series?
"Nothing really stood out to me on my return to trucks besides how gripped up the track was, especially in Turns 3 and 4. It was basically wide open the entire run."
How would you rate your performance in your first race back?
"I would say my performance was great until I got taken out, unfortunately. I felt like I controlled the entire race until that point."
What were your expectations going into the race, and did it go as planned?
"I expected to run good but definitely not as good as I did. It came as a bit of a surprise how fast I was on the long run."
Did you face any specific challenges during the race?
"The only challenge I really faced was being taken out and put deep in the pack, and then trying to recover from it."
How did the competition compare to what you expected?
"I would say the competition was slightly worse this year compared to last season, or I just got better as a driver."
What are your goals for the rest of the season in the Truck Series?
"My goals for the rest of the season are to try and win every race I participate in and show that I belong and I never fully left."
Are there any tracks coming up that you’re particularly excited or nervous about?
"Short tracks and road courses are my weakest link, but I can use that opportunity to learn and get better at them when I race in them."
After this great start we’re looking forward to see what Sebastian will be up for the rest of the season.
